J Brand For the Fellas!!!

Anyone remember the J Brand phenomenon among the ladies? Well, now it is the gentlemen's turn at feeling sexy in these stylish designer denim for all you male hipsters out there. Classic, cool, and sleek, J Brand for Men is a relatively new venture for this ever-growing company and by the looks of things, seems like Jake and Shia here already made sure that they got in on the J Brand excitement! En Route...

Hey ladies, I just read the latest women's buying report and there are a few new things to expect in the next coming weeks.

More bikini's from Insight are on the way, we only have one two-piece set in right now. It's actually pretty cute and colorful, definitely something the fellas will notice!

I'm excited to announce that American Rag Fashion Island will be receiving a new casual-wear line, Saint Grace. I had came across their line a while back and had made a request for our buyer to look into it and whether it was my request or she already knew about the line, either way we are getting in a shipment very soon. I had thought when I saw the collection was how well it would sell at our store because of how cute and simple it was and plus it was reasonably priced. which in my book is always a great combo! I would say it's a mix between Splendid/C&C and Clu. A great line in my opinion and I can't wait to see what we get.

We'll also be getting more apparel from French designer Vanessa Bruno, another women's line that sold very well at our Fashion Island store last season. We have a couple new Spring items in already from this line, but I'm excited to see more!

For all my chicas trying to get themselves a pair of high-waisted denim shorts like our celebs below, the Alice McCall Hi-Waist Denim shorts are being shipped as we speak so sit tight and keep calling in to see when it arrives because I am thinking this trend will stay through the Summer and you're gonna want a sexy pair of your own to strut in! This is what I believe will be sent in, as it's the only denim shorts I could find on Alice McCall's site this season and it is one hot sexy pair if I do say so myself:

Other celebs in various other denim shorts:

Mischa Barton being very busy-busy in her barely there denim shorts exposing her pockets. Which I personally think is a hot look. The fit and rise complements her well, which is a rare thing for the fired "O.C" actress.

Here's Ashley Olsen in what appears to be a vintage pair of denim shorts which I'd prefer over Mischa's. AR has a variety of denim shorts in all sorts of colorful washes in our vintage section at our store, so you too can have this sexy classic vintage look. And hey, you'll pay less, AND you'll be very up-to-date with the trend! Plus, with vintage, you can expect the rise to already be a little bit higher anyway.

Keira Knightley is making a bold fashion statement pairing her denim shorts with leggings, which I feel defeats the whole purpose of wearing shorts, but a part of me actually likes this get-up, so I applaude Ms. Knightley. There is a pair of Diesel denim shorts at the store that look very close to what she's wearing. If anything, I think our Diesel denim shorts are cuter! But the style is pretty much the same. I believe we only have a few sizes left as it came in a couple months ago.

And if you try Googling or Yahooing American Rag Cie, then you'll get a website for the American Rag's in Japan. Nicole Richie out and about with current beau, Joel Madden from Good Charlotte. She's wearing a sexy, yet classy, Madison Marcus Black Zest Tunic. We don't have this at our store but we do carry a Black Dress from the same line that also have the same detailing on the chest of the dress. Rachel Bilson in Mike & Chris

Rachel is wearing Mike & Chris' Bailey Bubble Dress in Black. People went crazy for this coat at our store several months ago. Unfortunately, we are currently sold out of this coat in Black. But we still have it in the Forest Green which is also as darling. Not many sizes are left though, so call or come in and make sure you get it while it's still there. NEW Designer Alert!!!

As a Vietnamese American, I was pleased to come across a Vietnamese designer showcasing her talents at last year's New York Fashion Week. I am hoping we'll eventually carry her stuff at our store, but until then check out this article below all about this up-and-coming new designer.

Unlike having a celebrity just endorsing a fashion line, having the celebrity designing the apparel themselves brings in even more excitement. Look at the success of Madonna's partnership with H&M, it would make sense then that other celebrity designers should catch that wave and join in on the money-making bonanza!

That is the case with one of American Rag Fashion Island's favorite and best selling designers from last season, Jovovich-Hawk. In case that name didn't sound familiar, indeed that is actress/model Milla Jovovich's label. And she is taking her label into Mango stores for a limited edition line for the usually price-friendly Spanish retailer. This limited line consists of only about ten dresses, so make sure you get your hands on them before they're all gone! Below are some of my personal favorite dresses from the line.

New Arrivals - Week Ending April 28th, 2007

Here's a brief overview of some of the latest stuff we got in this week:

For Women:

Dâ-Nang - This is a new line for American Rag Fashion Island, but not new to fashionistas. Almost like a mix between Hardtail and James Perse. Great clothing for Spring/Summer with it's soft slik/cotton blends.

Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent - More dresses and silk tunics from this afforable clothing line.

Ksubi - Not a stranger to our store, Ksubi, formerly known as Tsubi, brings some great new apparel for warmer weather.

Insight - Another new line for the Fashion Island store. We got in bikini's and other beachwear attire from this line. We have a great collection available for our Men's section, including shirts and shorts, etc...

J Brand - New Spring/Summer Flare/Bell-Bottoms fits.

For Men:

Fred Perry - More polo's and jackets from this classic brand in Spring-like colors.

Superfine - A new, lighter rinse available in this sexy denim line. It is also a slim fit.

Botkier Now Available at American Rag Fashion Island

Botkier is a line of luxurious handbags for women of all types. Considered to be one of today's "IT" bags to have, and American Rag is delighted to carry the line at our store. Celebrity fans include, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan (below), Alicia Keys, etc. The bag pictured above is the Sasha Satchel Bag.

Coming Soon...

According to our Men's Buyer, American Rag Fashion Island will soon be getting shipment for one of my new favorite menswear line, Orthodox because from what I've been told their clothes tend to run on the slimmer side, so for all of you who are into the fitted touch, most definitely aquaint yourselves with this stylishly-simple line. Nudie Gets Some Color

For all you Nudie fans out there, the Swedish denim company is finally catching the Colored Denim train with their new additional washes for their Slim Kim fit just in time for Summer. I've also been told that they are using oraganic cotton for a more economically friendly production. It's also available in a Black wash and a White wash! See Below. And click on pics to be directed to the Nudie site to see all of there washes! I will let you know as soon as possible if we'll be receiving these in our Fashion Island store. However, seems like something only the LA store would get.

Lindsay Lohan is into Something Else...

Women's Buyer for American Rag said that she really believes in the success of Australian line, Something Else. And it seems so does Lindsay Lohan as she has been caught sporting some pieces from their latest collection. Apparently La Lohan, or her stylist, is a fan of American Rag as it is the only boutique that is known to carry this line in Southern California. The Black Shirt with the Gold Bow and the Blue/Green Striped Hoodie Jumper are both still available in select sizes at American Rag at the Fashion Island store!

There's a possibility that American Rag Fashion Island will soon be carrying Theory for Men and Women. I'll keep you posted! American Rag in Los Angeles currently already sells Theory for Men.

This blog-site is dedicated to inform you the what's what of the fashion season that is available at American Rag Cie at Fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach, CA. For those of you who don't know much about American Rag, it is a High-End Concept store like a Barney's Co-Op or a Ron Herman type shopping haven that also carries an authentic and eclectic array of Vintage clothing as well. And we have a Maison Home store that carries anything from furniture to CD's to imported dining plates and soaps, etc... and a Café that offers a huge menu of European-inspired cuisine. Also, important to know, that our store is not affiliated with the American Rag Brand that is carried at Macy's Department Store.

On this site you will hear first about any updates the store has, as far as new arrivals from the upcoming collections AND get details about our upcoming sales, plus any other events we may be having. I will also be posting my own personal fashion tips and bring you all the latest IN's of the fashion industry that I'm noticing as well as posting new collections from lines that we may or may not carry that I think are worth checking out. And of course I will be posting what the celebs are wearing for those who are Hollywood fashion conscious.
